What is a Brand?

A brand is how people feel about your business. This is how they see it and connect with it. That is why brand photography is so important in creating a successful business. Your website and social media need to be consistent in the message you are trying to send and overall feel.

How can you start to develop a brand?

In the design world they use design boards to create a consistent flow for a specific room. You can create your own design board for your business. These are typically used in the beginning stages of a brand or re-branding phase. This allows you to put things together to see if they can flow together in harmony. I like to start with Pinterest and find a color scheme, fonts and things that go with your brand. Creating a strong brand creates a sense of trust in your business.

Brand Recognition

Having a logo helps with brand recognition. In designing a logo for a brand you will want to pay close attention to your fonts and color scheme. This will carry on into your website, social media, business cards, etc. You want everything to represent your brand and be consistent.

What’s the Message?

What message do you want to send to potential clients with your brand? How do you want them to feel about your business? In three words, how would you describe your brand? You want everything you post on your website and social media to have that same message and relate to those three adjectives.

Your brand needs to represent you. What sets your business apart from everyone else? YOU. You are the face and heart of the business and your brand needs to reflect that. This is how you are going to stand out from other business that offer the same product or service. You literally have 15 seconds for people to land on your website and make a decision whether or not they are interested in what you have to offer.

Imagine having a photo shoot scheduled every 3 months and having your content planned out to post once a day. Your social media following would grow due to being consistent and having quality post. These helps people connect with you and connection coverts into new business.

People want to know who is behind the business…

Do you ever wonder why people don’t comment or give you feed back? They don’t feel connected. Instead of just posting whenever you feel like it, try posting regularly and building a community. A community where people feel inclined to engage and comment on your post.

Story Telling

People want to know more than just the business side of things. They want to know what you do before work, during work and after work. They don’t need to know your whole life story, just bits and pieces about what kind of person you are. What about your family life? Do you have kids? Do you have hobbies? They just want to know you better, form a trust and become a follower before a customer.
